Addai not the answer in Indy
Well, I've watched Joe Addai for three seasons now and I have to say that he has become the most tentative runner in the NFL. Over his last 17 games played he's averaging less that 3.7 YPC and is probably the least explosive running back that I've seen since Cedric Benson in Chicago in 2007. He can't find the hole, and can't get through the hole, and he hasn't broken a tackle since 2006.
So today, I traded Addai in my dynasty league that IG is very familier with. He helped me win that Championship last season, and was suppose to be the cornerstone of my team for many years to come. I've been successful knowing when to trade someone more times than not, and feel that this was the time. I believe you only have two lives as a running back in a dynasty league before you lose your value. He just used one up this season.
3 hammy injuries
4 concussions
no explosion
has led me to trade Addai some some 1'st round draft picks (should yield good RB prospects), Domenik Hixon, and Patrick Kerney.
Thoughts on Addai???

Murphenis,
Great to see you back on the boards after a super long hiatus.
I tend to agree with you on Addai. I think you got great value for him. I'm concerned with his lack of BURST.
However, I do think he is a great BUY LOW candidate for dynasty owners this off-season, and Indy will get back to running the rock next season, the way they did in Addai's rookie year of 2006 - the same season they won the Super Bowl.
That said, you turned him around for great value, and I agree with your "two lives" theory.

I'm not sure I agree with the fact idea that "Addai is not the answer"...I don't think any running back is the "answer" for an offense like the Colts. They are a pass first offense, and all they need is an RB who will catch a few balls, and score from the 3. Murphenis, are you in a Playoff Fantasy Football league? If you were, you'd realize that Addai had a "typical Indy RB" game with a TD, 16 carries, and 4 catches. The guys is going to give you 14-18 points a week. Good RB2 numbers. Addai is a 'buy low cadidate' the question is what price do you give him away for? I say a #3 pick in a rookie draft league (i.e. Wells). The risk associated with a high potential rookie RB is equal to the lower ceiling yet lower risk Addai. Keep in mind, Addai is 25!!!

I don't think Addai is ever going to be considered a top-5 RB, as he was going into this season, but he is someone I think I would still want on my roster. It's just knowing how he fits into an onwer's lineup and ranking on the roster. It doesn't appear like an owner would want him as their primary RB, the stud you rely on from week to week to get you big points. GHOPS brings up a good point that he fits pretty well as a #2 fantasy RB. As long as that's all I'm expecting from him, I don't think I would be disappointed.

I like Addai. As a RB#2 he would be great.
Unfortunitly, Addai owners likely have more then that invested in him, so they are bitter. Just be glad you invested in Addai and not Maroney Now there's a guy who is not the answer.

Ha, I love the Maroney reference. Maroney blows. Well, I'm not sure if it's Maroney or Bellechick (sp?), but the running game in NE is definitely beginning to feel like Denver. I hate Denver RBs. Anyway, Addai owners should be worried, but they shouldn't be jumping off the bridge. The guy has a bad year, and people get off the bandwagon. Be patient I say, and he'll be fine as an RB2/3.

I like Maroney. I still love Maroney. In my opinion, something happened in New England to have Maroney not play a significant role in what they do. Now if there's a buy low candidate, Maroney is it. Maroney runs fierce and will a purpose when I've seen him. He's only got one more year in New England and new life in the NFL. I wouldn't sell the farm, but if you've got a hole and are in dynasty leagues, I still like Maroney at the right price. I always said that I loved Thomas Jones as a football player, and if he found another job like Chicago he'd be a solid option again. He runs pissed off.
As for Addai, I know where everyone is going with this RB2 thing. Now Addai, runs the exact opposite of pissed off (whatever than is). I'm not in the business of having an RB2 that only gets 3.7YPC and a touchdown every 3'rd game. I'm trying to find and put my team in a position to find 3 RB1's on my roster. That's the kind of owner I am. Addai's used "1 life"...after that...nothing left. This RB/WR's I draft with these two high picks carry value for more time than another Addai crap show.
By the way...good to be back. New job getting a little less stressful, and finding more time. Good to see the old regulars still rocking and rolling. Let's get some people pissed at me with my opinions :):)

Can't be pissed at you, Murph, but I would say that if you are able to assemble a roster with 3 legit RB1's, then you've done quite well for yourself! With the dilution of the RB position due to all of the committee approaches, I think owners may need to temper their expectations a bit for what they can reasonably expect out of their #2 and #3 RB's.

Murph... I agree on Maroney being a buy low canidate. If I was approached with a decent trade for him, I would take it. At some point he will get out of NE and actually get a chance, but you can't get around the fact that his current value is horrible and Addai well exceeds Maroney at this time and up to this time.
