Default Matt Cassell to the Chiefs

Reports are coming out now that a trade is being completed between the Patriots and the Chiefs. Specifics not yet released, but Cassell is said to be the main piece going to the Chiefs.

That makes a lot of sense for the Chiefs. And it tells us that the Patriots are confident Brady's recovery is going well.

Looks like Cassell and Vrabel for the 34th pick in the draft....As a lifelong Pats fan its disappointing to see them both go for a high 2nd round pick. Vrabel is getting alittle long in the tooth but still is not done, he is the type of player that embodied what the Pats looked for, he will be missed. To trade a starting QB and a team leader who went to the pro bowl 2 years ago for a 2nd round pick seems like they didn't get good value, the pats didn't want the 3rd pick because of the contract implications but still......There is a rumor that a 3rd team maybe involved....we'll see. If they set up an offense similar to what they did for Cassell in NE, Bowe and Gonzalez should do well, I wonder if they have the slot receiver on the team they will employ this year. What do people think this will do for Franklin? This could be good for LJ as well. Does anybody know if he can pass block.....LOL.

This is huge. Pioli is a genius. Adding Cassel should do wonders for this offense, and improve Gonzo and Bowe for sure, and open up opportunities for other guys. BarnardBum, we love the Will Franklin call. We'll monitor him. And adding a quality passer should definitely help L.J.

The future is looking bright in K.C.

With this deal, maybe next year will be looking like a competitive year for the Chiefs instead of '11 like I first thought.

As a Chiefs fan, of course this is exciting. Pioli's approach is refreshing. What's not to love about the Patriot Way.
The Chiefs still have to acquire a ton of more pieces though.
We all know LJ can't....errr....won't block, but it's the O-line that's a bigger concern. We still need to find 3 more servicable linemen. 4 if Waters gets out of KC like he's claiming he wants to.
I loved it when we drafted Franklin, but he's shown nothing to make me think he'll live up to his potential. Maybe Herm Edwards is to blame for that for not giving him the opportunity though. I've always believed he'd be a phenomenal slot receiver.
*Also, Pioli's declared KC will move to a 3-4 D (which I'm also excited about), but where does that leave Dorsey? He's too light to play nose, and too short to play end. Is he a wasted pick?
I'm glad to hear that Vrabel's still got some tread left on his tires, but we still only have one other viable LB in Derrick Johnson.
KC has won 6 games in two years. There's a reason for that, and I believe lack of talent is the number one reason. We've got a longgggg way to go to be competitive.
