Trouble Finds Javon Walker Yet Again
From the file of "Slow Learners", it has been reported that Javon Walker was found unconscious on a Las Vegas street Monday morning. This was after he was seen spraying some of the 15 bottles of Dom Perignon champagne he had ordered.
You might say "Why Slow Learner?" If I remember correctly, and please do correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't Walker do something like this on the night Darrent Williams got killed, you know, the night after the Broncos had lost a game to the 49ers, knocking them out of the playoffs, and when obviously, Walker had everything to celebrate...
Some guys never learn... At least Ted Thompson was smart enough to get a 2nd round pick for the bum...

Ooooh, that's cold bring up Darrent Williams while breaking the news. While, sure, my gut reaction is "what a doofus," I remember how folks were quick to judge what happened with Sean Taylor. We hardly know what really happened yet, except that I'm guessing you miss a lot of time with a severe orbital fracture.
Frankly, I'm willing to defend one's God-given right to spray people with 15 bottles of expensive champagne without having to worry about some thugs robbing you later.

And I was just pumping Ronald Curry on another thread...
See, I'm prophetic. Ok, maybe not. But, still, I like Ronald Curry.

I don't know what stage his rehab is at, but I read somewhere that alcohol is meant to slow down the body's recovery and actually make it less effective due to the new blood vessels not being as strong. If I was a highly paid athlete, I'd be Tee-Total.

Come on now, give him some credit. After 15 bottles, he wasn't carring a loaded weapon, wasn't pulled over for DUI, and wasn't found passed out in a strip club after making it rain. At least his poor behavior and stupid judgement hasn't effected others. That's worth something.
Sportscenter reported that the hospital said he had "significant injuries" after being robbed and is currently in the hospital.

I agree Mah it may have been a bit of bad taste to mention Darrent Williams in the post but I guess I don't feel sorry for guy. I remember his great year with Green Bay in '04 and then his ACL injury in '05. He wanted a new contract and talked his way out of Green Bay and was traded to Denver. Then Danver became "the greatest place on this football earth". Oops!! Something went wrong in Denver and then he signs with Oakland and now Oakland is "the greatest place on this football earth". And then he conducts himself in this manner. Who knows if these two things are related or not. But you can bet with him showering everyone with champagne he called attention to himself, and maybe someone recognized him and thought he had some money on him.
I think while players nowadays do unfairly get raked through the coals so to speak, one would expect these guys making millions of dollars to be smart enough to "protect their investments". Unfortunately, most of them are truly dumb and don't have any clue...

Maybe, just maybe NFL players need to stay out of Vegas. Things didn't go well with Pac-Man Jones when he was there either.
They might want to try Atlantic City

I know I have been rather harsh on Walker and he still is in the hospital but these guys ought to do a bit more thinking. It's hard enough being a pro athlete and trying to avoid people that would like to do harm to you but then to go and call attention to yourself just takes the whole thing into the "idiot realm" in my opinion.
If you are buying 15 bottles of Dom and blowing $15k on it, you probably showed you had some serious coin. By calling attention to yourself like that, a person is only inviting trouble.
Unfortunately, accidents can and do happen. Like what happened to Sean Taylor and also recently happened to Noah Herron. As far as I have heard neither Taylor nor Herron did anything to call attention to themselves and increase the risk of someone wanting to do something to them. But, unfortunate things happen. Why make it that much more difficult on yourself by calling attention to yourself??

Just goes to show that money and fame don't make life complete. Too many of these guys lack balance b/c they just don't have a good set of priorities, IMO.

It most likely stems from their upbringing where I'm sure they didn't have a very worry-free and problem-free environment.
